Race

Fleet

Our Race Fleet hosts two CSA regattas in the summer; The Mentor Regatta and The Falcon Cup. We also hold numerous club races over the summer months with neighboring clubs including Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and many Sundays in between. You will find our racers entered in many of the area regattas and a couple even head north to race in the Port Huron to Mackinac race.

Upcoming Race Fleet Events

Mentor Regatta

The first Mentor Regatta was held in 1935 and has been held every year since. The Mentor Regatta is usually held the weekend before the start of Cleveland Race Week and provides a great opportunity for skippers from the region to have that last “tune up” with the boat and crew.

The Falcon Cup

Unlike most regattas that feature a course with marks and are typically within a few miles of the hosting club, The Falcon Cup is designed to be a downwind run from Cleveland Yachting Club to Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. The race starts in the morning offshore from The Cleveland Yachting Club near the mouth of the Rocky River and proceeds 25 miles along the Lake Erie shore to Mentor. If Mother Nature provides the hoped-for southwesterlies, the participating boats will fly their spinnaker sails, giving everyone on shore a spectacular spinnaker parade!

Club Races

MHYC also holds club races on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day and many Sunday mornings in between. Racers from nearby clubs often join us for some Sunday morning competition followed by post-race socializing.
